The Blood Orange is grown for its sweet deep orange flesh that is eaten fresh or juiced. The rind may also be used in cakes and biscuits.
Citrus trees are best planted in full sun in a raised, well drained garden bed. The root system is quite shallow so avoid cultivating around trunk and avoid mulching with uncomposted manure or grass clippings. Feed in August and again in March for well flavoured, healthy fruit.
